Dubai

We made it! Here we are in one of the most incredible countries in the world! Dubai. I'm so glad we decided to stop off here for a couple nights to break up our flight. I can't even describe how amazing this place is. Everywhere is so classy & prim & proper, yet so chilled & laid back too. Every restaurant looked stunning & the beaches are breath taking. Unfortunately we didn't actually spend a day on the beach because we were too intrigued to find out what the city had to offer. We visited most of the main things to see such as JBR Walk, Dubai Mall & the Burj Khalifa. JBR Walk is where most of the restaurants are & a few shopping stores. It's also right next to the beach where they have cute beach bars & restaurants also.. & not to forget, shish places which everyone should know by now is one of my fave things to do in my spare time. Dubai Mall is just insane. The place has friggin' sharks in it for gods sake! It's not everyday you see sharks & sting rays in a shopping mall is it? Haha! They are in an aquarium, don't worry ;). Burj Khalifa.. I'm sure you've all heard of this place. It's the tallest building in the world & it's so bloody hard to get the whole of it in one shot! It's incredible!! Everything is just a WOW factor, I can't believe so many amazing sites are all crammed into one place.. & that's not it yet. There is SO much building work going on there so I am excited to find out what Dubai will look like when it's finished. Although I've not yet travelled Australia, which is the main thing I'm set to do on my travels, my heart is kinda set on living here already. It's such a beautiful place. Either way, just from a couple nights exploring a different life, I've decided England isn't the place for me & I've made the decision of hopefully settling down over seas. Life has so much to offer! So if you're sat back home reading my post feeling depressed or jealous... Go make it happen! Seeing the world will be the best thing you ever do & the biggest regret if you don't :) Dubai, see you again sometime! <3

Goodbyes

Here it is, time to say goodbye whilst me & Matthew set off on our travels. Goodbyes are never easy, especially when you're saying goodbye with no idea until how long is left until you'll see them again. My Mum & one of my best friend's Emanuela dropped me at the airport, along with my Mum's best friend Elaine <3 Matthew met me at the airport with his family also. At the beginning it didn't really feel real; we all got to the check in desk & were like right, now what... Haha! No one knew what to do or say, so we decided to go downstairs for a coffee in the airport as we had some time to kill anyway. Soon enough, it was actually time to go now. We got walked back upstairs by our loved ones & the second the 'real goodbye' came, I was in tears, along with my Mum & Emanuela. We looked a right mess, unlike Matthew & his family who kept their shit together like real adults haha! It was emotional though. I live with my Mum & we're very close & Emanuela is practically my sister. So to say goodbye to two of the people I spend most of my time with, was actually pretty heartbreaking. But fear not, they can always come & visit me! :D But if any if you are reading this, I do miss you like crazy & I'm so excited to see you again! But until then, WhatsApp & FaceTime will have to do haha. Love you all <3

Anyway.. Happy late Valentines! :D How was your day? I'm a few days late but y'know what they say, better late than never, right? Haha! I had such a lovely evening. Usually we go all out & go on a break somewhere; but with us not having long left to our travels, we decided to have a chilled one this time. We went for an italian meal (my fave!!) & a shisha afterwards at a new place called Molasses in Chorlton. The food, desserts & drinks look amazing in there! I'm definitely going to be back to test them out soon. This time on an emtpy belly, rather than one full of garlic bread & pasta.. Haha!

What did you all wear for Valentines? I love looking at everyones outfits, they're always super cute! Especially when a red statement piece is involved. I always like to have some form of red item of clothing too. My choice being my red 'suede' strappy heels this time; with an all black outfit. Subtle & striking, all at the same time! ♡_♡

It's much overdue that I tell you about my plans for travelling & answer my most asked questions on the subject on here. So many people are shocked I'm actually going, including myself. I never thought I would get the imaginary balls to reach out of my comfort zone & live my life. But as they say "No body gets anywhere without taking risks".

1. What made you decide you want to go travelling?
I've thought about it for a very, very long time, years in fact! & I just never knew how to do it. I didn't think it was possible. I'd hear about people just getting up & leaving & thought there must be some kind of catch to all of this? Until my friends took the plunge & did it themselves. & that's when I knew it was possible. Knowing someone personally who has made it work is the real inspiration - Fallon & Zahra, thank you my loves <3

2. What was it that actually took you so long to go if you've wanted it for so long?
Good question. Where do I begin? Well, originally, Me & Fallon (my friend who's now in AUS since she left the UK) had talks of going in March 2014. This was absolutely perfect timing for me. I was a free spirit & ready for change. I'd been split from my boyfriend for a few months at this point, for no reason other than I needed to find the person I was. Don't worry, we're back together now ;) & I couldn't think of a better way to do that, than travel. This is where shit gets hard. Luckily I hadn't booked anything just yet (Fallon had, she was set) & in March 2014 when we had planned to go, I lost my Dad, suddenly & very, very tragically. My whole life crumbled & it was as if fate was telling me I wasn't ready yet. I had to take months off work to help me over come the depression & grieve & also to spend time with my Mum.  Long story short, the thought passed & I was too focused on just being the 'Paige' I used to be. No one else could tell I was different, that's the problem with depression, but I knew I was & I didn't like it.

3. How did you finally decide you needed to go?
It was Fallon & Zahra. Again lol. They're life savers. Zahra always told me the that travelling was important & I'm so proud of her for travelling a lot of the the world already, making people smile. She's been everywhere & blesses everyone with her positivity. This girl is one in a million. & then one random day sometime last year, I also received a Facebook message from Fallon. It was something along the lines of "Little P (that's my nickname from her haha, she's like the big sister I never had) you need to be here. It will change your life & will be the best thing you ever do" & that was it. That was all I needed. The same day I texted my boyfriend like "We need to go travelling, Fallon just sent me this" (I screen shotted the convo & sent it him). He was taken back because it came out of nowhere & it wasn't something he had wanted to do at the time. Months went on of me trying to persuade him & failing miserably until I got to the point of saying "well, whether you come or not, I'm going either way". I felt like this was selfish a bit; but at the same time it was one of my dreams & no one was going to stop me. Long story short, as time went on & I talked to him thoroughly about the reasons I wanted to go, I twisted his arm (not literally lol!) & he's now coming with me :) I knew you couldn't live without me really Matthew! ;) haha! I'm so glad you're coming with me <3

4. How did you book it & was it expensive?
I don't know if you have ever heard of a place called STA Travel? If not, they're a travel shop that are experienced in actual 'travelling', not just holidays. We literally popped into one of their stores one day when we were on a little weekend break away in Chester. (They're based all around the country so I'm sure you can find one near you). Anyway, when we got there, we was greeted by a lovely lady called Joanne. We told Joanne what it was we wanted to do & she got together the best prices for us. Altogether, it cost us around £1,300 each. We couldn't argue with that & booked it on the spot! :)

5. What did you get included for that price?
In that price we got our flights from Manchester > Dubai. 2 night stay in Dubai. Flights from Dubai > Sydney & a 7 night stay at Base Sydney. A long with 'The Starter Pack' that they recommend & also our year long working holiday visa. I think it's a bargain if you ask me! & for those who are just thinking about it & don't yet have the money. STA Travel allow you to put down a £49 deposit & pay the rest when you can. As long as it's all paid at least 10wks before of course! (I think it's 10wks anyway). Amazing right? :)

The main reason I wanted to do this post with the depressing bits included is to show you that you CAN get through anything if you want to. We all go through downs in life. Some worse than others. But, if we don't want to create the ups then what's the point? All I am saying is, if you want something, no matter what obstacles get in the way. You can do it. Having positive friends around you all the time too is definitely a big factor. Zahra constantly reminded me to fulfil my dreams & so did Fallon, even though she was on the other side of the world. Surround yourself with people you want to become & that inspire you & you will never go wrong.

Hope this has helped some of you & encouraged you to go for what ever it is you want in life <3
